  • Primary health care services

Adult and Child Primary Health Care

GPs, Nurse Practitioners and Nurses are available to support your health and wellbeing needs. Health improvement coaches are also available to support your mental, emotional, physical and spiritual well being through talking based therapies.

Telephone and video consultations are available if an in person appointment is not needed.

ACC

ACC is a no-fault scheme which covers everyone, including visitors, who are injured in an accident in New Zealand.

Childhood Immunisations

All standard immunisations for children are free until 18 years of age. You can make an appointment with the Practice Nurse for your child’s immunisation.

Cervical Screening

All women who have ever been sexually active should have regular cervical smear tests every three years between the ages of 20 and 70.

This includes women who have been immunised against HPV. This test detects abnormal cells which, if left untreated, could become cervical cancer. Very often these cells are made abnormal by a human papillomavirus (HPV) which is a sexually transmitted virus. Regular tests and treatment reduces the likelihood of this sort of cancer by around 90%.

Contraception and Sexual Health

Ashhurst Health Care offers a variety of contraception options. You can discuss all of these with your health practitioner. We provide confidential and non-judgemental sexual and reproductive health care services.

B12 Injections

If you are deficient in vitamin B12, then the injections are very effective at raising your blood levels.

Drivers Licence Medicals

Drivers licence medicals are carried out by the doctor or Nurse Practitioner at Ashhurst Health Care.

Smoking Cessation

Stopping smoking isn’t easy, but hundreds of thousands of New Zealanders have done it, and you can too.

Hospital Referrals

The team at Ashhurst Health Care will organise your referral to the public hospital system.

Minor Accident Care

The team at Ashhurst Health Care are able to deal with most minor accident care. If they are not able to deal with an injury they will refer on to the appropriate service.

Palliative Care

The clinical team at Ashhurst Health Care have had training in Palliative Care in partnership with Arohanui Hospice. This enables Ashhurst Health Care to offer funded services to our registered patients, with life limiting conditions and who have a palliative need.
